Hello Kitty Halloween Dress for my little one

I participated in a challenge on facebook for the Boutique Challenge Group last week. Our theme was Halloween. Well, she needed a Halloween dress so this is what I came up with. It is a one layer Feliz dress (which was a sew along I did, my first one layer Feliz) and it has Hello Kitty appliques on three sides. My little one just loved it!

The front has Hello Kitty as a mummy on it.

The right side has her inside a pumpkin.

And the left side has the Kitty dressed up as a pumpkin.

And lastly, she had to twirl!

I used orange with white polka dots and zebra stripes as the main fabric. The accent is just a black with orange polka dot fabric. All of the kitty's have coordinating fabrics used on her that are shown throughout the dress.

Old McDonald had a farm...Overalls

So the next challenge on the group was Grimm's Fairytales or Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes. I picked my brain for a while and finally decided to do Old McDonald had a farm. This set is full of appliques.

The bib is covered with blue gingham and has the barn applique with "Old McDonald had a farm" embroidered around it.

The bottom of the front has a horse with his saying as well as a pig with her saying appliqued and embroidered. The horse is a fur type fabric while the pig is a pink minky dot so they have texture.

The back of the overalls feature a cow and a sheep with their wordings as well.

What Old McDonald farm set would be complete without EIEIO? So, we've added that too on the top of the back. Finishing off the set, we have added the same blue gingham for ruffles on the bottom.

This set is a size 24 months. The straps are adjustable so they will fit a bigger child. The ruffles are a little longer than the regular overalls would have been as well. These would be cute for a day at the apple farm or any day just to be cute.

Georgia Bulldog Overalls

Recently joined a challenge group on Facebook, Boutique Challenge Group. The first one I went in on was football. Being as that I live very close to UGA, of course I had to some Georgia Bulldog overalls. These have a black and white polka dot covered bib with "G"irl embroidered and a Georgia Bulldog print for a skirt. The back has Go Dawgs on them as well as footballs on the pockets. They are finished off with the same GA fabric for ruffles and a black with white polka dot ribbon. These are a size 12 months and ready to ship. Price is $40 plus shipping.

I love sewing for little girls! I was given a picture of the babies room with pinks, greens and birds and asked to make up a set. Here is what we came up with. I hope Ella and Emery get great use out of this set when they get here!

Baby Shower Gift Set Hooded Towels, Bibs and Burps

I love to sew for little girls but I dont have little girls to sew for anymore. When I found out a friend was having a girl I was excited! I decided to make a little basket of goodies for her.

I love this little black white and pink damask set. The bib and burp have the baby's monogram on them with damask fabric on the burp cloth.

This bib and burp set is done in pink and zebra. (One of my favorite combos). I put the stacked name on each and trimmed them in zebra fabric and pink and black ribbon.

I also included a Minnie Mouse hooded towel for the new baby.

Of course I couldnt leave out the older brother. He's 3 and to me 3 year olds are just too young to understand why the baby is getting all this stuff. So, I had to make him a hooded towel too. His has Mickey Mouse on it and he got a matching Mickey Mouse wash mitt.

He was thrilled with his little set!

Here we have it all in the basket and ready to go.

I love how this set turned out. Pink, black and white are a great color combo to me.

The Minnie and Mickey appliques are from HeatherSue on etsy, the fonts on the towels and the damask set are from 8 Claws and a Paw and the stacked name on the zebra set is from sewforum.

Cowgirl Up Outfit

I was given the task of coming up with an outfit to match some cowgirl boots. I wracked my brain trying to come up with something. Finally, I decided I would create some jeans that looked like they had chaps on them and a matching shirt. Here you go...

Cow print for the chaps and a pink ruffle to complete the jeans. Then I found a horse shoe applique on sewforum and someone else had digitized Cowgirl Up. I just knew that would complete the set. I did the Cowgirl Up in my software and got the horse shoe from there. It looks small on Barbie (pics taken before I got my mannequin) but was sized about 18 months. I think it turned out cute and so did the customer!

From Placemat to Childs Purse/Bible Holder

I seen these placemats at the Dollar Tree and just knew it would be cute for one of my girls to carry their Bible in to Church. All I did was put a stacked name on it, sew up the sides, add handles and voila!

It made the perfect size bag to carry her Bible and a few extra things inside. I also made my other daughter one in hot pink but shes run off with it. :)

Paisley Handbag, Carnival Bloom Handbag and ID holders

Custom order for one of my childrens teachers from last year. She had already bought a paisley print tissue holder and wanted a bag to match.

Paisley on top, black on bottom with a black and white polka dot ribbon to finish it off. We used the light green from the paisleys to complete the inside. This bag has three pockets, a pen pocket and a snap closure.

For the next bag set, we used Michael Millers Carnival Bloom fabric. This has to be one of my favorite fabrics ever!

This is such an awesome set! Carnival Bloom on top and chocolate on the bottom. There is a teal and chocolate polka dot ribbon to finish the bag. This set included the bag, a tissue holder, a change purse and a key fob. Very cute!

And here are a few ID holders and change purses that were custom orders as well. Some had already purchased matching key fobs but wanted a complete set.

Charity Sewing...Romper and Pillowcase Dress

I follow several blogs. I was reading Cole's Creations blog and noticed that there was a charity benefit silent auction coming up for a friend of theirs who had lost her husband and had small children. I knew I had to send something. I had sewn up these samples and they were just sitting around. Off in the mail they went.

I was very pleased to be able to send something over for the benefit. I hope they were able to make a little money off of it for the family.

Georgia Bulldog Towel Set and Crabby TP

Custom order for a teacher gift. This teacher meant a lot to her son and she wanted something special to give her. She is a huge GA Bulldog fan so we came up with these towels.

This set included a bath towel with a ruffle and name, a hand towel with a poem and ruffle and the wash cloth with the Georgia "G" and Georgia Bulldog ruffle. This makes a great set for any Georgia fan.

Finally, here's another toilet paper I did. My dad had never heard of embroidered toilet paper. He is a crabber in Savannah. I had to come up with something that fit him. How cute huh?!

And just look at this toilet paper! Who would have thought? Wrapped up in a cellophane bag with a cute bow, these make great quick gifts for bridal showers, baby showers or house warming gifts. Many different sayings can be put on them. Options are endless!

These were all made to match the colors of the towels for the gifts.

I always like to make what I can for holidays and birthdays. Sometimes I run out of ideas. Well, this year I wanted to do something for Mothers Day and Fathers Day that would match. What else but matching towel sets?! I love these!

I did their respective name on the bath towels, a little poem on the hand towel and their "grand parent" name on the wash cloth.

These towel sets go great in any bathroom. They will make any bathroom more personal.

First let me say better pics are coming on this set. It was dress up like Cat in the Hat day at my daughters school and I knew we couldnt send her to school like a cat so I whipped this up for her. The pants have Cat and Hat appliqued on the legs as well as more stripwork twirl on the bottoms. She got so many compliments on this outfit and she absolutely loved it!

Red White and Blue Shortalls

Altered denim shortalls. This little set turned out awesome! They were originally shorts but adding the ruffle turned them into a capri length depending on how far you let out the straps. Red and blue bandana patchwork fabric make this set perfect for 4th of July celebrations or anytime of year.

Pink Zebra and Skulls

I wanted to make these gauchos for a while and finally had the chance to. Pink and zebra strip are perfect for this set. Pants have a matching pillowcase top. Barbie is modeling once again.

Here we dolled up a pair of overalls with pink, black and white prints. For a little contrast I used a pink/zebra print ribbon across the bib. Ruffles on the bottom and looks like a dress on top.

And finally, here are the skull pants with a matching belt. These tiered ruffle pants turned out so cute! The look better on an actual baby though rather than Barbie. The black and pink polka dots just set the skulls off!

I had been promising my mom a handbag for a while so for her birthday she finally got one. She loves the color combo so I used Michael Miller's Spa Damask fabric. I just love all of the damask prints from their collection. Handbag with matching id holder/coin purse and a key fob. The inside of the bag has 3 pockets and a pen holder. The id holder/coin purse has a pocket for you to see through making it perfect for short trips, throw in your ID and you are out the door. Has a zipper closure so lose change and other items will stay in. It also features an elastic pocket on the back that will hold a cell phone.

Wow Wow Wubzy, Minnie Mouse and Angel of Death Halloween Costumes

My son wanted to be Wow Wow Wubzy when he seen it at Walmart. I looked at it and decided Hey I can do that myself! So this is what we came up with. All the other trick or treaters were saying "look there's Wubzy!"

My oldest girl wanted to be an Angel of Death. Here is what we came up with for her. A simple black shirt with a long black tutu and black flowers.

My little red head wanted to be Minnie Mouse. We made her a long red tutu dress with pom poms for the dots. A simple white dress and yellow shoes finished it off. Her clips were made from black felt ears I created with red and white polka dot ribbon bows glued to regular hair clips.

We had a lot of fun on Halloween even though it was raining. The kids enjoyed their costumes because there wasn't another one like them out there.

Christmas is coming!!!

Christmas will be here before you know it and with that comes shopping all over again. It seems like it was just yesterday to me, does it you? This year has flown by as it always does when we get older. I like to shop on the internet a good bit to avoid the crowds and I have found some good deals so far.

Do you have to shop for clothes this year? Or how about baby toys? I have so many on my list this year to buy for. My oldest child loves to read books and is into stylish clothes. My two middle children, a boy and girl, are still into toys and are slowly coming into books. My youngest, well he still loves to play with all sorts of toys.

Birth Announcement Rag Quilt/ Wall hanging

A dear friend of mine had her miracle baby a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to do something extra special for her so I waited to make her blanket until after he was born. His nursery was done in a dirt track theme (Grandpa is a race car driver at the local track and Daddy is into it too) so I knew I had to make the blanket using some racing flag fabric. The back is a blue flannel with race cars all over it. It has all of his info on it so it makes a birth announcement wall hanging or blanket for the little guy. She loved it and I do too. I think this is my favorite so far.

Rag quilts, pillows and receiving blankets Oh My!

Custom ladybug rag quilts with matching pillows. I used Cluster Stuff for the pillows. Let me tell you that is the best stuff since sliced bread! I've had pillows made with regular fiberfil before and this new stuff is awesome. It doesnt clump or bunch in the wash, bounces right back when you press it, and is hypo-allergenic.

They also had some receiving blankets they wanted cut and made into a larger quilt for the baby bed. Here is the before:

The one on the right is folded in half, I promise its bigger than what is shown. The large one is backed with pink minky dot and the smaller one is backed with a pink faux fur. I had a time doing them (they were 4 way stretch knit) but in the end they turned out so cute and cuddly for a little one!

Here is my latest handbag creation. I fell in love with this John Deere patchwork fabric and knew it was my next handbag. Paired with kelly green and a pink and white polka dot ribbon, it turned out beautiful!

And here is the bag with my stuff in it to show the room. It has three larger pockets and a pocket that will hold two pens or pencils. In my case, it holds a fingernail file and a pen.

This bag measures approximately 9 inches wide, 10 1/2 inches heigh, and 5 inches deep. The straps are approximately 24 inches from seam to seam.

Boutique Bible Covers

I was asked to a custom order the other day, something I had never done. I said sure I can do that! Well, the first one turned out like this. Just making a sample so she could take it to Church. (Made to match her apron to help in the kitchen at the Church)

I liked the design but something was missing.

I made elastic for pens/pencils and elastic to hold the ends of the Bible but I wasnt happy with it. Anyone who knows me knows that I will tweak something until I have it just right and the way I want it.

Here is the new revised version and I am very happy with the way it turned out.

It has covered flaps to hold the Bible in place and it features a pocket on each side to hold pens/pencils, a note pad, cell phone, you name it.

These covers can be made in a variety of fabrics. They are lined with a matching fabric and the pockets/flaps will coordinate as well. They have handles that match as well as matching ribbons for closures. There is a layer of thick batting on the inside to give it softness as well as body. Prices on a standard size cover measuring approximately 15.5 inches laid out by 10 inches tall are $22 for my blog readers.

Groovy Retro Apron

I love retro fabric and knew when I seen this one that I must make a retro apron to go along with it. So here it is. Jane Pole is modeling and she is super skinny while the apron is an XL size so it looks a little wonky on her.

I thought I had posted these and looked back and they werent here. Oops! Okay so Halloween was fun last year. The oldest girl was a girly bat, then we have a Power Ranger, and then the red head was a Go Go girl. They all were adorable. The youngest one wanted to be this and that but kept saying he wanted to be a Cowboy. Well, they dont make cowboy costumes for a two year old and we had decided he was going to be a pumpkin since we couldnt find the cowboy. We have the Halloween walk thru town that starts at 4pm. Along about 1:30 that same day, I decided he would be a cowboy. I checked my stash and I had just enough cow print from where I made the little red head Woody's girlfriend from Toy Story on character day one time. I found a pair of jeans and used them to make a pair of chaps then used a shirt to make a sort of vest. Added a red bandana to his neck and this is what we come up with.

This one is blurry but I think it is so cute. (he is running off, thats the reason its blurry) With the barrel it makes him really look like a cowboy lol.

This pic turned out cute too. We got so many compliments from our little Cowboy Dylan's outfit.

Pillowcase dresses for Easter Egg Hunt

Here are some pillowcase dresses and matching capris with ruffles on them. I made these for some friends of ours for their Easter egg hunt at the church. I loved this patchwork cat print in the hot pink and lime green colors. The capris are pants the two girls had, I cut the legs and added a ruffle so they were the right length. They turned out great!

Rag quilts for baby shower gifts

So y'all know by now that I make rag quilts for baby shower gifts. Here are the latest two I have done.

All wrapped up and ready to go.

Here it is spread out. I added a bib and burp cloth to this set. It is made from pink girly skulls and black flannel. This one turned out so cute. It has black and white polka dot for the back.

And this one is a pink and brown set made for little Abbi. The mom was doing the room and accessories in pink and brown so this combo was the perfect choice. The daddy has just left for another tour of duty overseas and little Abbi is due in May. God bless you Chris, we pray for your safe return. Erica, we will be thinking of you in these trying times.

Zippered back prom dress to corset back prom dress

So my mom's boyfriends daughter Samantha has prom to attend on the 18th. They looked everywhere for a dress and on a limited budget couldnt find one they liked that fit just right. She finally found this one in a consignment shop but it wouldnt quite zip up all the way. I get a phone call, "we found a dress but it doesnt zip up about 6 inches, can you do something." My only suggestion was add some fabric in the side seams where it wouldnt be seen until I seen the dress. Immediately I knew this was a job for a corset. Only problem was, I had never done a corset nor had I ever messed with a prom dress! I was scared to death I was going to mess it up and they would be out a dress and money. I was very hesitant to cut into it and finally said forget it, it has to be done and I have to do it. So without further ado, here it is.

This is the dress as modeled by Jane Pole. Here is the front view.

Here is the back view before I ever touched it. On Jane, it zips up because she is a slender gal, probably a size 8 I'd say.

And finally, here is the finished product. I couldnt find any black or white spaghetti strap material or cording after searching everywhere so I settled for silver "lame cord" as Hobby Lobby calls it.

The ties are left long so when it comes time for the big day she can get into it fairly easy. After she gets it on and is laced up we will cute the ties to length so they arent flowing on the floor. I will post an action pic when she has it on and ready to go. It also doesnt look so frumpy in the waist when she tried it on afterward, like it does on Jane. Its because Jane's waist isnt as big to fill the waist up with the corset.

So what do you all think? I did take pics of each step as I did it so if there is enough call for a tutorial, I will post one. Enjoy!

Easter Strappy Sundresses and Bowling Shirts

I had 3 of each to make and it was a task with everyone being sick etc etc. I got them done and they turned out soooo cute!!!

Of course we live in Georgia so the pollen is crazy right now and that just adds to the sickness. I'll make seperate posts of my new items so there is no confusion.

If you are like my family, we all have to have new shoes as the seasons change. I have a shoe fetish and it has rubbed off on my children! In the summer we love flip flops (I wear flip flops year round) and we have to get several pairs to last us. Approaching the summer is also a good time to find great deals on last winters shoes. You can find huge savings because they have to make room for all those summer shoes and you get to save that money so you can buy more summer shoes! What a great deal right?!

Men are not left out either. Here they can find great deals on their shoes just like women and children can. You like Uggs? Well they are having great deals on them right now as well as winter boots. Hop on over there and save some money. We all need to save with the twisted economy right now.

Stripwork Jumper and a Twirl Shirt

I made the stripwork jumper from Carla C's line and absolutely love it. Above is both girls standing together just before school. The shirt is a modified stripwork jumper. I had all those squares already cut so I decided to make hers a twirl instead of stripwork and it turned out cute. She loves it. The bottom is the Chocolate Lollipop line of fabrics. The pink and brown is a stripwork jumper from the ebook.

They actually belong to the opposite child wearing each piece but you know how that goes when you have children. The shirt is a size 7 and the dress is a size 5 but they fit each other so who cares who wears them lol. I didn't use button closures on either one, they simply pull through button holes and tie, this way they can grow with my girls and they can wear them longer.

Oh yeah, and please excuse the expressions on their faces (fake smiles) they hadn't been up long and they were heading off to school so ya know how that is...

My take on the snuggie...

So I was sitting with my youngest son watching t.v. this morning (does that hardly ever happen?!) and the "snuggie" commercial came on. It got wheels a turning in this brain of mine and off to the sewing machine I went. I figured it couldn't be too hard to make one and that could be another Christmas present for the kiddo and if it didn't turn out right, I could just throw it away. After a few mistakes due to sizing circles not being my forte, here we have my take on the "snuggie". My son loves it and it fits nicely.
The arms are big enough for him and it is just long enough so he doesn't trip when he walks (cause he does enough of that on his own, take a look at the broken arm).
For the edges, I just cut it to make it fringe since me and fleece don't get along all that well and hemming it doesn't ever turn out right for me. I was thinking of some little something to go on the back to fasten it but maybe I won't do that. When you sit in one of these things, your back is generally next to something so I don't think its needed.

Twirls for Girls- Wrap skirts

Sing the song... "1 little monkey jumping on the bed..." Yep, you guessed it, he was jumping and he fell and broke his right arm. He is fearless and I knew it was bound to happen and so it did. First of all, the sling they gave him wasn't comfortable on his neck so I had to make him a better one. Second, he didn't want to wear it at all so I figured if I made a cute one (let him pick the fabric) he might be more apt to wear it. So here it is... He picked the car and truck courderoy fabric we had on hand and I made him a new one with a cushioned neck piece.

Second, we went to have the actual cast put on and it is a blah off white color. Not cool for a 2 year old. And like all moms of 2 year olds, I didn't want it to get nasty and dirty like I knew it would so I wanted a cast cover. What better to use than John Deer fabric?! So this is what we came up with.

I also made this adorable little dolly for my niece. She loves hunting with my brother so I made her a camo dress and matching undies. I plan on making her another outfit to go with it.

Here is another outfit I completed. It's the same wrap top/dress and oh so easy fit pants patterns but I love it! The skulls fabric makes it so cute. She isnt the recipient of the outfit but the little one is the same size so she is my model.

Total spent on all four gifts so far is a whopping $0.00!!! Yay, I am sew excited that I have four gifts done and haven't spent a dime yet. I have a few more things to make, some embroidered towels and I will be done.

Twirls for Girls Campaign

I wanted to put this out there. Youcanmakethis.com is doing a charity drive in a sense for Toys for Tots again this year. It is called Twirls for Girls and they give you two free skirt patterns to make either a twirl skirt or a wrap skirt and donate it to Toys for Tots to go along with little dollies that special children will receive for Christmas. New Georgia Bulldog Diaper Bag

Here is my latest creation, a Georgia Bulldog Diaper Bag. How cute is this?? I loved this one so much I almost didn't want to get rid of it LOL But I did and Alicia absolutely LOVED it!

Bought a car seat lately??

Have you bought a car seat lately? Well, me either. My son is almost 3 and outgrowing his car seat that he has had for a while now so I am in the market for a new one. His was supposed to "grow" with him and even came with an attached booster but it seems he has figured out how to get out of this one. I did find a great site that shows me what to look for in a good car seat. It shows you what different things to check on a good car seat for added safety.

In addition to showing you what to look for when buying a car seat, it also discusses flying without a car seat and what you should know. There is an organization called CARES that has designed a device for people to use only in airplanes. They are not as big or bulky as a car seat or made for a car. They add to the safety of children when flying though. Who wouldn't want their children safe on a plane? I hope this article helps you in finding the perfect car seat for your new addition, I know it helped me.

New Georgia Bulldog Rag Quilt

I have been diligently working on this Georgia Bulldog rag quilt for a baby shower. It turned out quite well if I must say. The printed squares are cotton while the rest of it is flannel. Makes it even softer for baby's skin. It consists of the top layer, a layer of warm and natural batting, another layer of flannel to help the ragging process and the back is a Georgia Bulldog printed flannel as well.

This one shows it all wrapped up and ready to go. I embroidered it will the little one's name and birth year so it is more personal. The quilt is small enough for baby up until maybe 6 or 7 months until they are mobile but after that can be used as a great wall hanging.

Luke Haynes- The Artist

I was scanning craigslist the other day as I always do looking for sewing related posts. I found Luke Haynes. I went to his site to check out some of his work and was instantly blown away! Have you ever seen such quilts and art? I mean come on, this looks like real photos on cloth! I have seen people print photos on paper and work the square into a quilt but this is different. He takes photos and breaks them up into shades if you will and sews the pieces together to make a quilt. On his website there are different kinds of photo quilts. He has photographs of people as well as oranges! Oranges? Yes, and they look just like they were sitting on a counter.
I am very interested in this now. I mean I love to sew and all but this is real talent. If you have a chance, hop on over to his website and look at all his artwork including several more pics of quilts.
I saved one more pic for you that is just as amazing as the others I have shown you.

Almost Fall

Well not like falling down or nothing but the season! In Georgia, our summers are very hot and so unpredictable. One minute it can be very sunny with not a cloud in the sky and a high near 100 degrees, then over the next 30 minutes it can be storming and you may be running to take cover because there is a tornado coming. Storms pop up all the time around here and gain strength due to the heat as they move on across the state. Just last week, Hurricane Faye was making her way up the states and spinning off tornadoes everywhere. This is a picture of the tornado that was coming for us and sent lots of people running for cover.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in this tornado. It caused a lot of damage but He was watching over our town and we all made it out safely.

Anyway, I can't wait for the cooler temperatures. It get so hot and muggy here that it is just miserable. I tell my husband all the time we are moving to Alaska lol. All my family is here so he knows better.

Biggest shopping day of the year!

My favorite day to shop is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. You can find so many deals usually starting at 5 a.m. There are more deals on Black Friday than any other time of year! For example,cyber monday ads will give you a list of sites and their deals for that day. I can’t wait to shop through Joann.com on Black Friday because they will have some very good sales that day. You can get a new sewing machine, fabric, or scrapbooking items for cheap! They carry Donna Dewberry, Fiskars, and Sew Essentials items just to name a few. The fabric selection is tremendous and always have great prices.

Blackfriday.biz also has the ads for several other retailers including Walmart, Bestbuy, and Circuit City. You know they always have great sales on Black Friday. Last year Walmart had a portable DVD player for $50 but I missed it. They were already sold out when I got there. I know I can’t wait until the biggest shopping day of the year. I usually save my money and do all my Christmas shopping on that day because I save so much money. I found several Bratz, Spiderman, and Dora things last year through Black Friday deals. My kids were so excited when Christmas got here and they seen their things and I was excited too because I saved so much money!

Babies R Us will have good deals this year too. You can load up on diapers for dirt cheap the day after Thanksgiving. Toys R Us will have huge sales this year on toys as well. They always have the newest games and toys for low prices on Black Friday. In years past, they had Nintendo Wii games and lots of Nintendo DS items for great prices. What kid doesn’t want these games for Christmas? All of mine do!

Tracing the roots..

My husbands family roots has always been important but we were not able to find any information past his grandfather. Well, by chance, we were looking at a genealogy message board and some very distant cousins were talking about the same line my husband is from. We have learned so much over the last few days from emailing a few people and researching using Ancestry.com on our own. We have spent a whole day in the local library trying to see what we could find. It has been so fun! Best part of it is today we are meeting a cousin of my husband. She has been researching the family for over 25 years and has so much information. We are super excited to meet her and find out more info! Oh gotta go.... we'll be late!

So my husband was hit by a transfer truck about a month ago and is in need of some auto body repair to fix the rear end of his truck. The snooze button

What was the purpose of the snooze button? In my eyes, it was an instrument given on alarm clocks to make us late. I mean really! "Here is an alarm clock that you can set to whatever time you want it to go off and wake you up BUT here is a little button you can press that will make it go off so you can go back to sleep." When you are sleeping, you really dont know what time it is if you are still half asleep and hitting that "snooze" button so you just keep hitting it thinking "okay that was only the second time so it's about 6:30 am" but in all actuality you have hit it about 8 times and you have to have the kids to school by 8 am so now they are going to be late! Great idea there clock makers!

Camping in the front yard...

My kids made the cutest little beach scene yesterday. According to them, they were camping. They were up on the hill in our yard and pulled out some old fire wood and made a square like a fire pit. Then they took a small table umbrella and staked it beside it. They came back and got a tent and of course put it up there too. They were using sticks like they were roasting marshmallows and all. It was so cute! You will be surprised at what a couple of 5 year olds can do. LOL

No, she's not shooting a bird, she is actually trying to point LOL

They had so much fun with it, we decided to make them a real fire pit and let them roast marshmallows. What a time we had!! It brought back so many childhood memories.

Itsa Me... Mario

Being that we are huge Nintendo collectors, of course my son had to be Super Mario from Nintendo last year for Halloween. It took me a while to get the costume right and to find the hat I was looking for but we got it done. I finally found a hat similar to Mario's and cut it along the seems, then made copies of them from the scanner and made my pattern for the hat below. Hope you like!

So my kids are loving school. One of them became sick and was out the 3rd day of school but got back in the swing of things. The other two are now changing teachers. There were so many kindergartners this year they had to create a new class. She is a sweet girl who taught second grade last year. We will see how this goes.

Sorry I have been MIA lately. My husband's Grandmother had a massive stroke about a week ago. She was improving and even got to go home yesterday to the Assisted Living home she had grown to love so much. She was so much happier there. Her medicines were greatly reduced, she helped do the laundry, and helped take care of all of her friends who lived there as well. She had another stroke last night and was not able to pull through this one. She went Home to be with Him and her husband this evening. Ganna, as all my children called her, is no longer suffering or in the intense pain she had endured over the last week. She is in a much better place than all of us and is finally at rest. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Almost time for school...

Well it's almost that time again... time for school. The kids are super excited and ready to go back and boy am I ready too! Hahaha... The kids going to school means a quiet (almost) house during the day again except for the two year old running around all day. The two middle kids start kindergarten this year (sobs) and it's depressing. It seems like yesterday they were born and here they are five years old and starting kindergarten. It is a sign that they are growing up. Before I know it, my youngest will be starting Pre K! Time flies so fast. It seemed like when I was growing up, time took forever but these days there aren't enough hours in a day. Here we are already in August and it seems like we were just celebrating Christmas in time to do it again. Oh well, off my rant. I am excited for my children. They are growing up and that's a part of life. We spent the weekend getting all of their school stuff and buying more clothes. Today they all got haircuts and are getting ready to go to the Open House to meet their teachers and all that good stuff. They have their backpacks ready to go so they can take all their things to school tonight instead of on Thursday. (what is with schools starting on a Thursday?)

Oh yeah, I will be getting more on here soon. I have been busy getting them ready for school but I have plenty to talk about :)

Such a procrastinator

Ok so I set up my blog but have yet to post on it. Great! Well, here I am and making my first official post. I have been keeping thoughts in my head and finally decided to put them on a screen for others to see inside a crazy looney of a brain LOL I am a stay at home mom of four children ages 8, 5, 5, and 2. (When does school start again?!) They are typical kids but they all have their moments at almost every minute of the day! I juggle tending to them, sewing, ebay, and my house each day and frankly, I dont even see how I do it!

Oh well. I love my family and my other passions such as sewing and my ebay business.
